The heat waves across the state is intensifying day by day, apart from a few districts who are experiencing moderate to high temperature the other districts are experiencing high temperature. To beat the heat the demand for boating among the common people is rapidly growing. Similarly the Nehru Park situated in the heart of Dhenkanal town is offering boating facilities in the adjacent Bhagirathi Sagar( Nua pokhari). Everyday during the late afternoon hundreds of visitors throng the park to enjoy the atmosphere, swings and to do boat riding in the adjacent pond.
The park is being administered by the local municipality and here the boating facility is being provided since 2018, each visitor has to buy a ticket of Rupees 20 for boating. There are around five boats which provides service to the visitors.
One of the visitor, Aman Ayushman Das said, “During the day time, the temperature is really high, so whenever I get time I rush towards the park for boating, they also provide lifejackets for our safety but unfortunately now around 60-80% of the pond is covered with algae for which we couldn’t ride the boats to a long distance, I request the concern authority in charge to clean the pond and also repair the non-functioning boats.”
“we come here almost in every weekend to have a boat ride, this relaxes us from the scorching heat and at the same time we do enjoy the boat riding here,” said Prajwal Prasanajit.
While the boating facility is available everyday here, but during the weekends it witness a huge number of visitors coming here for boating.
