Kapilash, Joranda and Saptasajya: The Golden triangle of Dhenkanal

Kapilash

The famous Kapilash temple is situated in Dhenkanal district and is about 24 kms from Dhenkanal town, the temple is situated at about a height of 2239 feet from the sea level, in the north-east side of Dhenkanal town. Everyday hundreds of devotees flock the shrine in order to have a glimpse of lord Chandrasekhar. There are two approaches to reach the temple, one is by climbing almost 1352 staircases and the other one is by travelling a ghat road with 12 bankas (twisty road).
Every year on the occasion of Mahashivaratri tens of thousands of devotees throng to the temple to have the darshan of lord Chandrashekhara.

In the foothills of the kapilash temple there is a small zoo which houses a variety of wild animals and attracts many visitors to pay a visit.

Joranda

Joranda is situated in Dhenkanal district and around 26 kms from Dhenkanal town. It is the religious headquarters of Mahima Dharma. Every year on the full moon day of Magha, the Joranda magha mela is held here, where huge numbers of devotees and pilgrims comes to the fair.

Saptasajya

Saptasajya is situated in the south direction of Dhenkanal town, and it is about 11 KMS in distance from Dhenkanal town. Saptasajya beholds a holy vibe with its connection to the Purana and legends mentioning that the Five Pandavas stayed here for a few days during their incognito period.

Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita along with the Five Pandavas are worshiped in the temple present over there. A small broke also flows down here and one of the reason of tourist attraction here. Every year huge crowd gathers here in the picnic season to spent some quality time in the lapse of nature.
