Wholesale inflation reaches it’s highest level


Gasoline and diesel prices have risen sharply. In March, wholesale inflation reached its highest level in four years. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has continued to raise retail prices.

According to the ministry, as of March 2021, wholesale inflation had risen to 6.38 per cent in four years. Earlier, in 2013, it had risen to 7.8 percent. Compared to March 2021, it increased by 1.56 percent compared to March 2020. In February 2021, the wholesale inflation rate was 7.18 percent. Which is the highest in 24 months.

In January 2021, the country’s inflation rate was 2.51 percent. Wholesale inflation has risen sharply in the past three months.

In March, inflation in the primary goods and food sector rose by only 0.55 percent compared to February. In crude oil, the rate was 6.6 percent. Similarly, in natural gas and non-food items, it was 1.8 percent and 0.35 percent, respectively.

Coal wholesale inflation in the country fell in March compared to February. In the coal sector, wholesale inflation fell by 0.06 percent. Wholesale inflation in manufacturing goods rose 1.24 percent.
