The Pipili by-election will be held on May 13. The deadline for submission of candidatures is in the next 26th. There is a deadline for verification of nominations on the 27th and withdrawal of nominations on the 29th. Voting begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. The election will end before May 14. A statement from the state’s chief electoral officer informed.
By poll was going to be held in the absence of Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathi. As he died last year in Covid 19. The by-elections would have taken place on the 13th. For this, the three major political parties in the state intensified their campaign. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik from the BJD campaigned for candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathi in Virtual forum. Similarly, many senior leaders, including two Union ministers, Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sadangi, campaigned for Ashrit Pattnaik from the BJP. Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including MLA Sura Rautaray, Tara Bahinipati, Ramesh Jena, PCC president Niranjan Patnaik, campaigned for Congress candidate Ajit Mangrajang.
Notably Ajit Mangaraj also died recently in Covid 19. So the by poll was postponed to may 13.
