Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania presented medals to 78 police officers and staff members today at a special DGP Award event at the Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar in honor of their exceptional accomplishments and distinguished service. The commemoration of Odisha Police Foundation Day included the event. For their outstanding work in upholding law and order, anti-Naxal operations, crime prevention, and other crucial responsibilities, senior officers and staff from a variety of units were recognized.
DGP Khurania personally presented the medals to the awardees. Prominent recipients included Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, Additional Director General of Police (Women and Child Crime Prevention Branch) S. Saini, Inspector General of Police (Operations) Dr. Deepak Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch) Dr. Sarthak Sarangi, DIGP (Independent Intelligence Branch) Akhileshwar Singh, DCP (Bhubaneswar) Jagmohan Meena, DCP (Cuttack) Khilari Rishikesh Dyandeo, SP (Special Branch) Sunil Kumar Nanda, and SP (Police Training Institute, Bairi) Ashok Kumar Dehuri.
They were joined in receiving medals for their outstanding work by 29 officers from the Special Operations Group (SOG), 7 from the Special Branch, 10 from the SIW, and staff members from several other departments.DGP Khurania also gave Bimal Kumar Kanar, Inspector of the Badagada Police Station in Ganjam District, a medal as a special gesture. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently named the station the Best Police Station in Odisha for 2025.
The ceremony was attended by many senior police officers, personnel, and representatives from the media. Speaking on the occasion, DGP Khurania appreciated the dedication and hard work of the force and said such recognitions motivate personnel to continue serving the people of Odisha with greater commitment and professionalism.
