As of September 7th, all 30 of the state’s districts have reached 92% of the Kharif season objective, marking an important milestone for Odisha’s agricultural industry. It was made public during a review meeting today at the Krushi Samikhya Kendra in Krushi Bhavan, which was presided over by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment. Dr. Padhee emphasized the value of departmental officers working together to achieve success throughout both the Kharif and Rabi seasons in a conversation that was specifically focused on the development of kharif farming and the most recent crop condition in the state.
The Special Relief Commissioner’s information indicates that minimal rainfall has been observed in 45 blocks across many districts. The state of the crops, the development of farming, and irrigation infrastructure in these blocks were all thoroughly discussed. According to the district agricultural officials, these blocks have finished more than 95% of the farming job. Within the following two weeks, the remaining area will be planted with a variety of vegetables and legumes. By the end of September, all districts will have completed their full crop cycle.
For the upcoming month, Dr. Padhee gave the Agriculture and Water Resources Department instructions to offer reliable irrigation facilities and effective crop management. The state government has directed district and block-level officers to create canal distributary committees in six important districts: Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Khurda. This is being done in order to improve irrigation facilities in the Mahanadi Delta Stage-1 and Stage-2 areas during the Rabi season. By September 30th, proposals should be prepared for the Rabi season and submitted to the state-level technical committee. Dr. Padhee gave the field officers instructions to hasten the creation and approval of the committee.
