On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky outside the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the two presidents haven’t had a meeting until now. The meeting, which also included Ajit Doval, India’s national security advisor, was documented in photos released by the Prime Minister’s Office.The prime minister’s office tweeted, “PM @narendramodi spoke with President @ZelenskyyUa during the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima.”Following an invitation from Japan, the G7’s current chair, both Modi and Zelensky are present at the summit.PM Modi emphasised at the discussion that the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict was a significant issue affecting the entire world.Today’s earlier meetings between Prime Minister Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, were aimed at fostering bilateral collaboration in the fields of green hydrogen, advanced technology, semiconductors, and digital public infrastructure. During their roughly 50-minute discussion, Modi and Kishida also discussed how to coordinate efforts to address urgent global concerns while Japan is in charge of the G7 advanced countries and India is the G20 presidency.
