IMD forecasts “heavy to very heavy rainfall” through August 3 for a number of states

On August 2 and 3, it may rain in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Delhi.Over the next four to five days, east, northeast, and east central India are expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). To assess the damage brought on by the recent severe rains in Telangana, an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) will visit the state on Monday.The team, which includes officials from the ministries/departments of agriculture, finance, jal shakti, power, road transport and highways, and national remote sensing centre (NRSC), would be under the direction of advisor to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Kunal Satyarthi.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rain in northwest India is quite likely to fall till 3 August across east Uttar Pradesh and on July 31 and August 2 over east Rajasthan, with isolated heavy rains also possible. While west Uttar Pradesh may see rains on August 1 and 2, Uttarakhand is also anticipated to experience light to moderate rainfall during August 1 and 3.On August 2 and 3, it may rain in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and other parts of north India.
