The department of agriculture and farmers’ empowerment will hold the two-day International Convention on Millets in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, commencing on November 9. According to the official sources, Odisha will be the first state to host an international convention on millets. “Millets – Ancient Grains for Modern Challenges” is the convention’s theme. A wide range of events will be included, including B2B meetings, technical sessions, policy roundtables, experience centers, international food festivals, quiz contests, cooking competitions, and much more.
According to the department’s official statement, the convention will highlight the tribal heritage of millets and highlight the Mission Shakti women self-help groups’ (WSHGs) successful millet entrepreneurship stories. The event will be attended by representatives from various UN agencies, agricultural counselors from Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, African, and European nations, as well as embassies and agriculture secretaries from various states.
