Hockey Pro League: Australia And Netherlands Touch Down In Bhubaneswar

On Wednesday, the top-ranked women’s hockey teams in the world, the Netherlands, and Australia, came to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to start their 2023–2024 FIH Hockey Pro League campaigns.

The women’s FIH Hockey Pro League 2023–24 is slated to begin play on February 3–9 at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar. From February 12–18, the league will be held at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. at the India leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023–24, five national teams—India, China, the United States of America, the Netherlands, and Australia—will play each other twice, at Rourkela and Bhubaneswar.

Australia’s first game in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023–24 will be on February 3 versus China. On February 6, they will play the United States. Then, on February 7 and February 9, they will play India and the Netherlands.

On February 3, the Netherlands will face the United States in the opening game of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023–2024. Their next game is scheduled for February 4 against India, and on February 6 they will play China. On February 9, they will play the final game of the Bhubaneswar leg against Australia.

“The FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 is a crucial fixture for us as it serves as a preparatory event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. We are looking forward to it and are excited for what is to come. We have been training in Delhi for the last six days and we have a practice match against China before we get right into it. We will be up against some good teams; we haven’t played them in a while. But China, Australia, and India are all exceptional teams and we are looking forward to taking them on,” the Netherlands’ Captain Maria Verschoor commented after landing in Bhubaneswar.
