It is anticipated that the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project would be finished by December 2027. This was disclosed at the State-level Project Monitoring Committee meeting that took place today at Lok Seva Bhavan in connection with the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project’s first phase. An official news statement stated that Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena chaired the meeting, which covered a variety of topics including platform preparations, finance arrangements, and technical specifications. According to the project, tenders for civil works, the relocation of various utilities, land planning and structural arrangements, etc., would be completed in the next six to eight months.
In January 2024, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik set the project’s cornerstone. It is anticipated that the project will be finished by December 2027. Nonetheless, the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have a contract in place for DMRC to carry out the project as a turn-key consultant for the building of the metro rail from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia.
Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department G Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Vishal Kumar Dev, Special Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Manoj Kumar Mishra (Railway Corporation), Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and other committee members were present.
