The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) and Amarjit Singh, also known as Bittu, the gunman and prime suspect in the murder of Baba Tarsem Singh, the head of the ‘karseva’ sect in Nanakmatta Gurdwara, were engaged in combat in the early hours of Tuesday in the Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar. The state’s top police officer was quoted in the news agency ANI.Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar of Uttarakhand told the news agency that Amarjit Singh, a gunman with a ₹1 lakh bounty on his head, was murdered while his accomplice absconded. According to the top policeman, a joint operation between the Haridwar Police and the Uttarakhand Special Task Force has been initiated to track down the fugitive accused.
Jasbir Singh, a sevadar of the karseva, claimed that Chugh and the other two people mentioned in the FIR plotted Tarsem Singh’s murder. According to ANI, he further asserted that other people were involved in the purported murderous scheme.
The state police had earlier declared that they were searching for the other culprits while conducting a comprehensive investigation into the killings and raids in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.In relation to the case, three additional individuals were also taken into custody. They were accused by authorities of recruiting offenders, giving weapons, and providing resources in order to orchestrate the crime.According to DGP Kumar, the Uttarakhand Police zealously pursued the perpetrators of Baba’s murder, viewing it as a challenge.
