In the 2019 general and assembly elections in Odisha, the Communist Party of India (CPI), a partner in the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, would run for one Lok Sabha seat and five to eight Assembly seats. Following an I.N.D.I.A. coalition meeting at the Congress Bhawan, top CPI leader Ram Krushna Panda announced that the CPI would run for the Lok Sabha seat in Jagatsinghpur rather than Aska.
Panda announced that his party would run for five to eight Assembly seats in addition to the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat. Notably, Panda ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Congress-Left Parties coalition in the 2019 General Elections from the Aska Lok Sabha seat.
