During General Manoj Pande’s (COAS) ongoing visit to Tashkent, India and Uzbekistan on Tuesday talked about the future of training and military cooperation between the two nations. Key elements of enhancing military cooperation between the two armies were discussed during General Pande’s interaction with Major General Khalmukhamedov Shukhrat Gayratjanovich, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan.

Additionally, the COAS met with Major General Burkhanov Ahmed Jamalovich, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister and Chief of Air and Air Defense Forces, to explore ways to improve the two forces’ current defence cooperation. General Pande also visited the Armed Forces Museum in Tashkent, which features military artefacts from various Uzbek historical eras, according to a statement from the Indian Army. During the visit, Uzbekistan’s rich military heritage and accomplishments were shared with COAS, the statement stated.

Later, General Pande honored the late Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second prime minister, by placing a wreath at his memorial in the capital of Uzbekistan. Additionally, he went to Victory Park, a memorial to Uzbekistan’s Second World War efforts and sacrifices. The COAS met with the directors of Uzbekistan’s defense industrial agencies while on a visit to the Centre for Innovative Technologies LLC, which carries out technological modernization and research in the military-industrial complex.
