TPSODL To Create Safety Awareness Across Southern Odisha Through Nukkad Nataks

Throughout its whole licensed area of operations, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has scheduled more than 140 Nukkad Nataks for current fiscal year. From January to May 2024, the organization successfully organized 61 Nukkad Natak, reaching almost 25,000 people in 61 villages and panchayats. The goal of this program, which was started last year, is to increase Odisha residents’ knowledge of safety.

With the help of the community and local authorities, Nukkad Nataks’ effort has achieved great progress in bringing important concerns like energy saving, the prevention of electricity theft, and worker and animal safety to the public’s attention. Key topics addressed by TPSODL in the Nukkad Nataks were the significance of domestic electrical safety, animal poaching, consumer and public safety, including the avoidance of unauthorized hooking and construction, the value of digital payments, energy conservation, safety observation reporting, and the use of the 1912 Call Center Number.

Other themes include locking cables and outlets, using plastic guards, childproofing outlets, keeping electrical equipment away from water, checking for frayed wires and loose connections on a regular basis, and ensuring the safety of electrical appliances. As of May, 61 Nukkad Nataks have been finished in the districts of Ganjam and Koraput, demonstrating the initiative’s notable success there. All TPSODL sections will see the completion of the remaining 79 plays, which will mostly target villages and areas that are vulnerable to unauthorized hooking and development. In order to ensure a thorough community participation, the initiative also incorporates local village communities and collaboration with NGOs and Women’s Self-Help Groups (WSHG).

“At TPSODL, we are committed to leading the way toward a safer Odisha. This year, we are expanding our Nukkad Nataks to over 140, deepening our engagement across our service areas to not only enhance safety awareness but also to empower and unite the communities we serve”  said the CEO of TPSODL Mr Amit Kumar Garg.

The firm has placed a strong emphasis on animal safety for Nukkad Natak in areas within TPSODL’s authority that include forested areas, such as Bhanjanagar, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Boudh. In the previous year, the business completed over a hundred Nukkad Nataks. Through the Nukkad Natak program, TPSODL is committed to fostering a safer and better-informed community, which reflects their dedication to improving the safety and quality of life of the communities they serve.
