Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday provided financial support for a devotee who lost his life during the Rath Yatra in Puri in the amount of Rs 4 lakhs. The deceased individual has been recognized as Saintala, Balangir district’s Lalit Bagarti. In addition to offering his sympathies to the grieving family and expressing his profound sorrow over the devotee’s passing, CM Majhi also prayed for the departed soul to achieve enlightenment.
According to accounts, Lalit died from asphyxia amid a stampede close to Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja chariot. Free medical care for injured devotees participating in the Rath Yatra has also been offered by the CM. A similar stampede-like event occurred when Lord Jagannath’s chariot, Nandighosh Rath, was being pulled in a procession.
Sources claim that during the Rath Yatra in the holy city, over 300 people were admitted to hospitals as a result of discomfort brought on by the excessive humidity and big crowds. Inquiring about the well-being of individuals undergoing treatment for their injuries, Health Secretary Shalini Pandit, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited hospitals.
