Sunday marked the official opening of the Intelligent Enforcement Management System (IEMS) at Malatipatpur in the Puri district by Minister of Commerce and Transport Department Bibhuti Bhusan Jena. Jena formally opened the advanced traffic monitoring system in the presence of senior officials, Joint Transport Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Commissioner of the State Transport Authority Amitabh Thakur, Additional Transport Commissioners Indramani Nayak, Lalmohan Sethi, and Dipti Ranjan Patra.

State and federal highways spanning 548 kilometers are included in the first phase. Panikoili to Rameshwar, Bhubaneswar to Puri, Puri to Konark, and Konark to Pipili are among the routes covered in this phase. The Indian government has made using technology a top priority in order to address the difficulties it faces in enforcing traffic laws on national highways because of a shortage of personnel. Amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act of 2021 made it easier to prosecute offenders using cutting-edge technology.

The Integrated Enforcement Management System (IEMS), which aims to improve enforcement capacities, is one such endeavor. With regard to applying cutting-edge scientific methods to successfully prosecute Motor Vehicles Act violators, IEMS is a significant step forward. Speaking to authorities at the ceremony, the Minister stated, “The Intelligent Enforcement Management System (IEMS) would help in reducing accidents.” Traffic infractions and accidents have escalated due to the quickly growing volume of vehicular traffic amid the rapidly rising road infrastructure.
