Hari Marine’s journey began modestly in 1994 with the founding of SR Aqua Products, a 20-hectare aquaculture venture established by his father, Mr. Himanshu Kumar Das. Through determination and a steadfast focus on quality, the family laid the foundation for what would become a pioneering enterprise in the marine exports industry. Today, under Sangram’s dynamic leadership, the company has expanded to an impressive 36 hectares and rebranded itself as Hari Marine Pvt. Ltd., poised to be a significant player on the global stage.
Stepping into his father’s shoes, Sangram Das has proven himself a worthy successor by navigating the intricate world of marine exports with innovation and vision. He inherited not only a business but also a legacy defined by meticulous attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and sustainable practices.
“When you work closely with farmers, you understand the importance of quality and relationships,” says Sangram. Drawing on the company’s early days of organic and bio-fertilizer-driven processes, he has expanded the scope to include a vast aquaculture area of 80 hectares and state-of-the-art infrastructure, ensuring that Hari Marine remains synonymous with excellence.
Under Sangram’s stewardship, Hari Marine has undertaken an ambitious project: the establishment of a Mega Marine Food Exports Processing Plant near Sergarh, Balasore. This cutting-edge facility is set to revolutionize the seafood processing landscape, boasting an annual processing capacity of over 10,000 metric tons of prawns and shrimps. Equipped with world-class technology, including automated grading systems, advanced freezing capabilities, and an effluent treatment plant, the facility reflects Sangram’s vision for sustainable and efficient operations.
“Our focus is not just on meeting demand but exceeding expectations,” explains Sangram. The facility is poised to position Hari Marine among the leading exporters of high-quality seafood, meeting stringent global standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, and FDA approvals.
Beyond the company’s industrial advancements, Sangram Das has continued the tradition of supporting local farmers through contract farming, consultancy, and access to essential aquaculture inputs. By providing feed, seed, probiotics, and expert supervision, Hari Marine has enabled small and marginal farmers across Odisha and West Bengal to thrive. The company’s collaborative model ensures that farmers receive a fair price for their produce while adhering to sustainable practices.
