Mr. Manoj Kumar Pradhan is a 2020 batch Odisha Revenue Service Officer, who is from Angul. He has completed his BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2012. He is presently posted as Additional Tahasildar at Chatrapur, Ganjam. The Interview Times had a conversation with him, below are the answers he responded to the questions of the The Interview Times :-
Q1- What inspired you to go for State Civil Services?
Answer – I was preparing for UPSC Civil services exam. Meanwhile appeared in the state Civil Services and got selected.
Q2- Sir, in which attempt did you clear the Odisha Civil Service exam?
Answer – In My previous attempts there were many things that I ignored and didn’t worked on them due to my callous attitude then. Many a time repeating the same mistakes without improvisation on them. 5th one was seriously taken into account.
Q3- Sir, what motivated you the most in your journey of achieving success in the OCS exam?
Answer – My failures from my previous attempts and the journey itself was the motivation. When people start doubting your potential and disregard you then one thing is left with you, whether you fight or you flight. I chosed fight and offcourse it was not with others but a fight that was going within me. The battle where fear and self doubt were the enemy.
Q4- What was the most challenging part during your preparation for the Odisha Civil Service exam and how did you managed to overcome it?
Answer – Repeated failures in my previous four attempts was challenging and I capitalised on my drawbacks, learned from the failures and kept improving myself.
Q5 – What advice would you give to young aspirants preparing for Odisha Civil Service exam?
Answer – My advice would be that stick to the basic and fundamental books and revise them thoroughly.
In addition to that keep your study resources limited and precise. Don’t get demotivated by failures rather learn from them and improve on your drawbacks.
