The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted searches at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj in connection with an alleged hospital construction scam.
Bharadwaj, who represents the Greater Kailash constituency and has previously held portfolios such as Health, Urban Development, and Water, is also a former Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and serves as one of AAP’s official spokespersons.
According to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), a case has been registered against Bharadwaj and fellow AAP leader Satyendra Jain, both former Delhi Health Ministers, over “large-scale corruption in health infrastructure projects.”
The ACB stated that 24 hospital projects — 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield — were sanctioned in 2018–19 at an estimated cost of ₹5,590 crore. However, the projects are plagued by unexplained delays and massive cost escalations, raising concerns of significant financial misappropriation.
