On the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati season 17, host Amitabh Bachchan had the audience in splits as he playfully joked about the height difference between him and his wife, actor-politician Jaya Bachchan.
The moment came during his conversation with contestant Asha Dhiryan, whom Bachchan described as an “adbhut mahila” (wonderful woman). When Asha asked him to praise Jaya, the megastar quipped, “Deviji, humare byaah ko 52 saal ho gaye hain. Baavan saal tak unhone humko jhela—iss se zyada tareef aur kya ho sakti hai?” (It’s been 52 years since we got married, and the fact that she has tolerated me all this time is the biggest praise I can give her). His witty remark left everyone laughing.
As Asha narrated her own love story, she mentioned how a short friend once scolded her tall husband. Picking up on that, Amitabh connected it with his own life, teasing, “Yeh baat humare liye nayi nahi hai. Aapne kaha na ki aapki friend itti si thi aur upar dekh kar apne husband ko dhamka rahi thi—humne bhi yeh dekha hai.” The audience quickly caught the reference to Jaya, and the studio erupted in laughter.
With his trademark humor, Bachchan once again turned a simple moment on KBC into a heartwarming anecdote from his own life.
