“BJP Alleges Congress Councillor Instigated Ladakh ‘Gen Z’ Protests; Sonam Wangchuk Responds”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress of instigating the recent violence in Ladakh that erupted during protests over statehood and the demand for inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. At a press conference in New Delhi, BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that Congress councillor Stanzin Tsepang was the “main instigator” behind the unrest, which left four people dead and at least 80 injured, including 40 police personnel.

Patra claimed that the violence was part of a “nefarious design” by Congress to create disturbances similar to those seen in Bangladesh, Nepal and the Philippines. He further alleged that Tsepang, a councillor from Upper Leh, was seen in videos and photos leading mobs, brandishing a weapon, and marching towards the BJP office.

“An attempt was made to portray the agitation as a Gen Z-led protest, but investigations revealed it was actually orchestrated by the Congress,” Patra said. The BJP has also released visuals purportedly showing Tsepang and his associates inciting violence.
