After temple officials confiscated dalda ghee that was purportedly not permitted for use in temple ceremonies, a new dispute has broken out inside Puri’s Jagannath Temple (Srimandir). According to reports, the objects were discovered during a routine examination inside the Rosaghara, the temple kitchen where sacrifices are made to the gods.
A Mahasuar servant has reportedly been questioned about the origin and purpose of the confiscated goods. Authorities believe that non-prescription ghee could have been imported, which would have violated the temple’s stringent rules about what can be used in rituals.
