Today, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi opened the new VFS Global Visa Application Center in Bhubaneswar, which is a major step in improving Odisha residents’ access to foreign visa services. Speaking during the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that Odisha’s increasing global connectedness and dedication to citizen-centric services are reflected in the creation of this center. He pointed out that these programs facilitate travel, advance tourism and industry, and encourage global involvement.
The CM said that there was a growing need for a Visa application centre in the State. Considering this need, the State Government had requested the central Government to facilitate opening up of such a centre in Bhubaneswar. We are happy that the central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended full support and cooperation in the opening of this centre here. He further said that the newly launched centre stands as a testimony to the growing demand for convenient and accessible visa services in the region. It will significantly benefit residents of Odisha, who previously had to travel to Kolkata to submit their visa applications.
According to the chief minister, the state government supplied about 3,000 square feet for this cutting-edge facility within the city’s Baba Saheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Barmunda. The center will provide visa services for the following 10 nations during its initial phase of operation, according to the CM: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Estonia, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, Japan, Morocco, and Egypt. In the near future, more missions are anticipated to be launched, increasing the scope of services accessible to candidates, he continued.
The center is built to give candidates a smooth and effective application process. Through a network of more than 560 visa application centers spread across 20 cities, VFS Global presently offers visa services on behalf of 53 countries in India.
