Dhenkanal town police arrested two persons for conducting vehicle checking and collecting fines posing themselves as Tahsildar and RTO officer near the kathagada by-pass road.
The accused have been identified as Ashwini Dhal and Kalu Dora, both residents of Siaria village of Govindpur phandi under Sadar block.
According to the reports, the accused were collecting fines by conducting vehicle checking from the passer-by near kathagada by-pass road on the pretext of being Tahsildar and RTO officer. Some locals found their behaviour unusual and doubted their claim following which they informed the police.
On being informed about the same, the town police personnel reached the spot nabbed two of the three accused while they were trying to escape from the spot after seeing the PCR van. The police also seized a SUV car from the possession of the accused.
However, the third accused managed to escape from the spot and further investigation is underway to nab the absconding accused soon, said Namita Nayak, IIC of Dhenkanal Town police station.
