BMC Escalates Actions At Community Level In Dengue Affected Areas

A team of doctors deployed through the Rapid Response Team (RRT) visited different pockets of wards number 7 and 14 under the North Zone of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) because of the constant dengue affected areas.

According to the reports, the people visited direct doorstep while counselling people with fever and symptoms like dengue. During the visit, the team has observed some suspected cases and discussed signs and symptoms of dengue. While other citizens are counselled about the availability of the testing facility and their panic behaviour.

While visiting the areas, the team of doctors informed the citizens that at a government level there is an ‘Elisa testing facility in Capital Hospital and Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC)’ which is free of cost. There even asked the people without any confirmation about the dengue not to arouse panic in other people’s minds because any case of a fever can’t be termed dengue.

Mass awareness drive is continuing in the area along with home visits. Public address system, leaflet distribution in small community groups on daily basis. The team members include Health Supervisors, Multi-Purpose Health Workers (MPHWs), Sanitary Inspectors, Ward Officers, ASHA, Angan Wadi Workers (AWWs), Swachha Sathis and Sanitary Workers are in a visit to the area. A cumulative data says about 2000 households and 10,000 population has been covered as of now.
