The pilgrim destination in Puri, Odisha is mostly likely to get a new name as per the reports. During a meeting, several names have been proposed by the members of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration during a meeting.
According to the reports, the meeting, which was held in the presence of Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb, proposed names like ‘Shree Jagannath Puri’ or ‘Shree Jagannath Dham Puri’, among others. The private members of the committee moved a proposal and Gajapati also supported it.
Ashok Mohapatra, SJTA member stated the Chief Administrator also welcomed the decision and the revenue department and government will make a decision as per law. The members of the temple managing committee were assured that the pilgrim city would be named as per the legal provisions.
Collector Samarth Verma stated that the proposal has been discussed and a decision will be taken by the government by considering everyone’s opinion.
