Bhubaneshwar: Odisha’s Health Director Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, today says, ”the same level of alertness should be maintained in the case of Omicron or any other variant of Covid-19”.
An equal approach should be applied to tackle all variants of Covid-19 and it should be at both technical and the community level, Mohapatra said, while interacting with the media.
Amid the technical aspect comes vaccination, surveillance, and tracking and tracing of symptomatic cases.
In case of any surge in Covid-19, the pediatric age group is at risk as they are not vaccinated. In this regard, the State Government has strengthened pediatric management.
HDU and ICU wards have been set up in Community Health Centres & Primary Health Centres and health workers are being trained.

According to WHO and international experts, the transmissibility of Omicron is high but the severity is low and no fatality has been declared till now, Mohapatra further informs.
