Just before the departure for the South Africa Tour, Team India has got a major blow. Currently, their most in-form player and the new Vice-Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the entire South Africa Tour. His participation in the One Day series where he will be the full-time Indian ODI captain for the first time is also doubtful.
Rohit Sharma has picked up an injury during the net session and is out of the Test series. Though the extent of the injury is still unknown, it is likely that he will miss the ODI series as well. Gujarat batter Priyank Panchal has been asked to cover up for Rohit as per the reports of the BCCI.

It remains to be seen whether Rahane will continue as the Test vice-captain or whether the Indian board announces a new deputy for Kohli.
Sharma, one of the most prolific run-scorers in white-ball cricket in the last many years, has also been India’s top run-getter in the five-day format in 2021 – where he has 906 runs under his belt in 11 matches.
