Unit II, the city’s largest retail and wholesale market, reopened today after a four-day closure due to a deadlock between permanent vendors and sidewalk vendors.
The decision was reportedly made by the association after meeting with officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) at the office of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited in Saheed Nagar.
It is said that a seller returned to the market building a week after he was evicted, when club members resisted, the sidewalk vendors attacked them.
Meanwhile, the closure of the market building for four days has taken a toll on the economy, traders said.
