Dr. Mishra of the Department of Transfusion Medicine at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been recognised for his selfless act.
Dr. Mishra donated one unit of B-Ve blood to a woman suffering from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Transfusion Department. Dr. Mishra was on duty in his department when he learned of an urgent need for blood for a pregnant woman in critical condition. There were no relatives who could donate the required B -Ve blood for the lady who was in severe pain from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and was bleeding.
Furthermore, B -Ve Blood was not available in the Blood Bank at the time. However, it was an emergency situation for the pregnant lady in need of blood. As a result, Dr. Mishra generously donated one unit of B-Ve blood to the patient. If the patient had not received the necessary blood at that time, she could have died, according to the treating gynaecologist at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The lady was discharged from the Gynecology Department after a few days of treatment, and she is now doing well.
Dr. Mishra’s good Samaritan gesture has been praised by AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Prof(Dr) Ashutosh Biswas. Doctors not only treat patients, but they also have a generous heart to help those in need. Dr. Mishra has set a good example for others, according to Dr. Biswas. Everyone applauded AIIMS Bhubaneswar Doctor’s noble gesture.
