A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader from Ambala, Haryana, Harbilas Singh Rajjumajra, was shot dead by armed assailants in Naraingarh on Friday evening, according to police reports. He was traveling in a car with two friends, Puneet and Gugal, when the attack occurred. Puneet also suffered gunshot wounds. Following the incident, the victims were rushed to PGIMER, Chandigarh, where Harbilas later succumbed to his injuries, while Puneet’s condition was reported to be stable.
The attackers have not been identified yet, and an investigation has been launched. Naraingarh’s SHO, Lalit Kumar, visited the scene, and a police team has been formed to track down the assailants, said Superintendent of Police S.S. Bhoria. BSP leaders in Ambala have called for swift action to apprehend those responsible. Rajjumajra had contested the Naraingarh assembly election last year but was unsuccessful.
