Mohanty has achieved remarkable success in his career spanning over three decades through his strong visionary and leadership skills. Dr. S.P. Mohanty is the Chairman and Managing Director of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited, a Government of India enterprise that manufactures and trades high-quality urea, bio-fertilizers, vermicompost, pesticides, and crop seeds. Additionally, he serves as the Chief Executive Officer of HIL (India) Limited.
Scholarly throughout his academic career, Dr. Mohanty has completed his Masters of Business Management from Berhampur University, Odisha. He also graduated from IIM Lucknow with an Executive Development Programme and from IIM Kolkata with an Advanced Management Programme. He has previously served as the Chairman and Managing Director of HIL (India) Limited from 2015 to 2021 and worked in M/s Rashtriya Chemical & Fertilizers Ltd (RCF), Mumbai, in different capacities from 1989 to 2015.
Dr. Mohanty’s illustrious career is adorned with prestigious awards and recognitions. DURING HIS TENURE, the RCF awarded him the “MARKETING MAN OF THE YEAR” and the “BEST EMPLOYEE” awards. Dr. Mohanty received an honorary Doctorate Degree (D. Litt) from Dr. Radhakrishnan of the Teacher’s Welfare and R&D Centre affiliated with the University of South America. As a result of his contributions to the field of corporate affairs, he has received the prestigious “UDYOG RATTAN AWARD” and “EXCELLENCE AWARD” from the Institute of Economic Studies.
In the leadership of Dr. Mohanty, HIL (India) Limited has received several prestigious awards from renowned institutions, including Bureaucracy Today (CSR Excellence Award), Times Ascent (Innovative HR practices), and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). During Hindi Divas 2016, Dr. Mohanty also received the “HINDI GAURAV AWARD” from Sj. Among the other distinguished dignitaries in attendance was Kiran Rijiju (the current Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India). His meritorious services and outstanding performances earned him the “BHARAT JYOTI AWARD” from the governors of Tamil Nadu and Assam. In addition, he is a “FELLOW MEMBER” of the Institute of Directors (FIoD).
Dr. Mohanty has traveled extensively to numerous countries, including Australia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, and France. He is a regular faculty member for the Fertilizer Association of India (Eastern Zone) Seminars. He also served as co-chairman of the FICCI’s Sub-committee on Crop Protection for two years.
