According to founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, the online food delivery service Zomato has begun a pilot project to deliver special food from any city in India to various regions of the nation. This project is called “Intercity Legends.” The company’s founder wrote in a blog post that customers can get all the delights from various cuisines in every part of the country by using the intercity option. This will initially be made available to a small number of customers in Gurugram and South Delhi, and Zomato plans to quickly expand this to other cities in the near future.
It will be interesting to see if the new feature, which was introduced specifically around the holiday season, is a hit or a miss. The feature does have the advantages of bringing food nostalgia and making food accessible to everyone in India. Intercity Legends may still encounter some logistical difficulties. By utilising its investment in logistics unicorn Shiprocket, Zomato can outperform logistics channels. In December, Zomato made an investment in the business. After purchasing several startups last year, Shiprocket raised new funds this week to become a member of the unicorn club.
The business also asserts that “state-of-the-art mobile refrigeration technology preserves the food without freezing it or adding any kind of preservatives.” Once they receive the food, customers can simply “microwave, air-fry, or pan-fry the food,” according to the company.
