Between September 15 and October 2, 2023, the annual Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign will be observed as a lead-up to Swachh Bharat Diwas under the joint auspices of DDWS and MoHUA. ‘Garbage Free India’ is the objective of SHS-2023, with a special emphasis on the welfare of Safai Mitras and the aesthetic cleanliness of the country. On September 15th, Odisha held the state-level launch of SHS 2023, in which CDOs from all 30 districts and BDOs from all 314 blocks took part, together with their respective District and Block teams.
To organize the SHS activities, a state-level planning and coordination conference was called on September 16 and presided over by the Chief Secretary. In accordance with the joint advice released by DDWS, MoJS, and MoHUA, the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, which is the nodal department for SBM-G, provided the appropriate recommendations for the celebration of SHS- 2023 campaign.
The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department’s Principal Secretary declared, “We are taking this opportunity to increase the cleanliness in Odisha by conducting various activities like shramdaan, awareness rallies, etc.” Since the campaign’s inception on September 17 at the district, block, and general plan level, several activities have already been undertaken. A wide range of activities have been planned for the weekly campaign in keeping with the spirit of SHS.
