Union Minister Pratap Sarangi brings Odisha Government’s notice about the Anganwadi centres in Nilagiri block of Balasore district refusing to take delivery of sweaters knitted by WSHGs as per orders from CDPO.
Union Minister Sarangi bought this issue to the lights of the Minister for Women and Child Development Tukuni Sahu to alleged irregularities in distributing woolen sweaters to children in Anganwadi centers.
He wrote about the allegation to Tukuni Sahu, stating that the centers refuse to deliver sweaters knitted by women self-help groups (WSHGs) as per the order placed by the child development project officer (CDPO) at the Nilagiri block of Balasore district.
As per the sources, the WSHGs have taken an amount of loan from the banks so that they would able to meet the order of the CDPO. But now, the Anganwadi are refusing to even accept the sweaters under the plea that they have been instructed so by the officer.
Sarangi stated that this issue is an act of deliberate defiance by the CDPO. Nilgiri points to her high-handedness, malafide intention, and corruption in the Anganwadi centers’ functioning under her jurisdiction.
