AAP Accuses BJP of ‘Politicising’ School Bomb Threats, Calls Them ‘Fabricated Stories’

The Delhi Police stated that a 12th-grade student, arrested for allegedly sending bomb threats to schools, has ties to an NGO that supports a political party. In response, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “politicizing” the bomb threat issue. Singh criticized the BJP, saying, “You (BJP) are turning the threat against school children into a political issue. The first threat was reported in May 2024, and for nearly nine months, the Delhi Police did not provide any updates. But now, just 15 days before the elections, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi is holding a press conference and spreading fabricated stories about different NGOs, despite no investigation being conducted for months.”

During a press conference, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi stated, “Several months ago, schools across Delhi received bomb threat calls and emails, which created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among parents and residents. Following a detailed investigation, it was revealed that these threats were traced to a juvenile. Further inquiry uncovered that his family had connections to NGOs involved in activities such as protesting against Afzal Guru’s hanging.”

He continued, “In February 2015, ‘Tukde-Tukde’ slogans were raised on his death anniversary, and AAP kept the case under wraps for months. Are these NGOs associated with AAP? Both of Delhi CM Atishi’s parents supported Afzal Guru’s clemency petition, suggesting a direct link.”Police teams traced 400 threat emails sent by the minor. They also investigated the background of his father, who works with an NGO, and discovered that the organization is part of a civil society group advocating against Afzal Guru’s hanging and is also supporting a political party.
