Bolangir: An Additional Programme Officer (contractual) of Muribahal block in Bolangir district was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on Friday while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 as the first installment from a Gram Sathi.
The accused identified as Sushant Kumar Das had demanded a bribe from Gram Sathi for facilitating the release of the bill in respect of the renovation work of village pond executed by the latter under the MGNREG scheme.
Acting on the complaint of the Gram Sathi, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught Das. The entire bribe money was recovered from his possession.
Following the trap, simultaneous house searches were conducted at two locations from a disproportionate assets angle. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
