Air India Express and AirAsia India, which are both part of the Tata-owned Air India group, have introduced a new shared brand identity for their airlines. They revealed this new look on a brand-new Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
The new branding has a fresh and modern appearance with vibrant colors. The airline’s motto is “Fly As You Are,” and it aims to create meaningful connections among people and places, offering smooth and digitally advanced travel experiences, providing excellent value, and offering a warm Indian hospitality.
At a special event, the Chairman of Air India Express, Campbell Wilson, and the Managing Director, Aloke Singh, unveiled the updated brand, logo, and aircraft design on the new Boeing 737-8. This plane is the latest addition to their growing fleet of 58 aircraft.
Campbell Wilson emphasized that the merger of Air India Express and AirAsia India is nearing completion and is transforming the aviation industry. The goal is to better connect India and its people, both domestically and internationally.
The new visual identity of the airline includes bold colors like Express Orange and Express Turquoise, representing enthusiasm, agility, style, and a digital-first approach.
Aloke Singh, the Managing Director, said that the combined entity of Air India Express and AirAsia India will operate under the name Air India Express, focusing on being “New India’s Smart Connector.” The rebranding is part of their ambitious growth plan, starting with the addition of the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-8 aircraft. They plan to double their fleet size with 50 new aircraft in the next 15 months and eventually grow to around 170 narrow-body planes in the next five years.
In addition to the new visual identity, Air India Express also introduced a signature sonic identity, which is a unique musical logo representing the spirit of a progressive New India.
The livery, or the external design, of the new Boeing 737-8 aircraft is inspired by traditional Indian textile designs like Bandhani. Other upcoming planes will feature patterns inspired by traditional Indian art and crafts, highlighting the country’s rich cultural diversity. This theme, known as ‘The patterns of India,’ tells the story of India and its commitment to offering top-notch travel experiences through technology, design, and Indian hospitality.
