AP Singh, the lawyer who defend the accused in the Nirbhaya rape case will now defend the four upper caste Hathras gangrape accused in court.
Mr. Singh has been hired by the upper caste group Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha (ABKM) to represent the side of accused for the Hathras accused.
Tomorrow a bench led by Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde will hear a plea seeking a judicial probe into the Hathras gangrape and murder case. It has also urged that the place of trial be changed from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi.
The UP olice claimed that they found an “international plot” to instigate riots along caste lines and defame the Yogi Adityanath government over the beastly assault and purported gangrape of a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Hathras. On Sunday, an FIR was lodged against unidentified persons at the Chandpa Police Station in Hathras under several stringent sections of the IPC, including sedition, fabricating false evidence and promoting enmity between groups.
