Vedika Prakash Shetty, former personal assistant to Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly embezzling ₹76.9 lakh from the actor’s personal accounts and her production company, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd.
According to police officials, Shetty, 32, had been employed with the company since 2021 and is accused of siphoning off the funds over a two-year period using a series of forged invoices. The FIR, filed in January based on a complaint from Bhatt’s mother, Soni Razdan, alleges that Shetty submitted fake bills that appeared to be approved and signed by the actor herself. The embezzled funds were initially transferred to a friend’s account and then redirected to Shetty’s personal bank account.
Shetty had reportedly been absconding for months, frequently changing locations to avoid arrest. She was finally apprehended in Bengaluru on Tuesday and brought to Mumbai, where she was produced before the Bandra Magistrate Court. The court has remanded her to police custody until July 10.
Police sources confirmed that while Shetty’s associate did not benefit from the stolen money, both are being questioned to trace and recover the misappropriated amount. The investigation is ongoing.
