All ULBs In Odisha To Begin Application Receiving Process Under PMAY(U) 2.0

All Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state have been directed by the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD)’s Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) to start the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 application process. Applications for this phase of PMAY(U), in contrast to the previous one, will only be taken online via a portal created by the Indian government’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

An official press release states that the OUHM has advised ULBs to set up helpdesks at their offices, plan ward-wise camps, and work with Common Service Centers (CSCs) to support applicants in order to guarantee a seamless application procedure for qualified beneficiaries. By setting up a camp in Gadakana, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started the procedure. This is particularly significant for PMAY(U) 2.0 because the Prime Minister visited it on September 17 of this year and spoke with PMAY(U) beneficiaries. Gadakana has been chosen to be developed as a Model Village based on the recommendations of Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and the Principal Secretary, H&UD.

Economically weaker section (EWS) households hoping to receive PMAY(U) 2.0 benefits were asked to apply during the first camp, which was held in partnership with OUHM. The beneficiaries were instructed to bring the necessary paperwork so that it could be processed right away. With 28 applications successfully accepted and placed onto the web, the project received a positive reaction. The BMC’s proactive strategy sets an example for other ULBs by guaranteeing that qualified recipients receive the assistance they need to obtain housing benefits under PMAY(U).
