An executive councillor claims that Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is responsible for igniting interest in the “king of fruits” among Indian tourists, in addition to starting a durian frenzy in China. Low Chee Leong, deputy chairman of Melaka’s committee for rural development, agriculture, and food security, reported that he recently had the pleasure of receiving Dr. Gaurav Ralhan, the head of Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s Swarna Samaroha Committee, while he sampled durian cendol at a local establishment.
“After traveling to Malaysia to participate in the legendary ‘Odissi’ dance being held in Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, and Johor Baru, Gaurav made the decision to sample the delicious and creamy durian. He continued, “Gaurav has promised to investigate my request and is eager to collaborate with the Melaka government.”
Low expressed gratitude to local media professionals for their assistance in publicizing the Visit Melaka Year 2024 campaign, which has drawn interest from all over the world. According to him, Gaurav also had a meeting to talk about increasing medical tourism with Goh Hock Gin, the chairman of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents Melaka branch. Goh promised to look into other options, such leisure and educational travel between Odisha and Melaka. “We will work on elaborating on the details we discussed during our productive meeting with Gaurav,” he stated.
