During the State Level Cyber Safety Campaign from September 30 to October 15, 2023, covering all districts of the state, the Commissionerate Police in the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) will be enlisting volunteers from Mission Shakti, ASHA, Red Cross, and NGO for the distribution of pamphlets to raise awareness about cybercrimes beginning on October 9. A road race will be held on October 8 as part of the campaign, and on October 14 in the evening, a padayatra with older persons, women, and kids will be held to raise awareness of online safety.
On September 30, at 5:00 PM, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will salute the start of the Cyber Safety Raths from this location’s Kalinga Stadium. Then, over the course of the following two weeks, these Cyber Safety Raths would touch every Block Headquarters and Police Stations around the state. These Raths would spread information on online safety using audio, video, and print media in the regional tongue. Starting on October 3rd, a workshop or quiz competition on cyber security will be offered daily in two educational institutions. Online campaigns promoting cyber safety at this time would be ongoing, disseminating messages via various social media platforms, radio, visual media, and print media.
For the most recent updates on cyber safety, a social media account with the name @cybercopodisha has been formed on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Cases of cybercrime are on the rise nationwide, especially in the state of Odisha. Cybercrime is often avoidable, which may be achieved by cyber literacy and understanding of cyber crime, even if there are legal proceedings taken against online fraudsters. The campaign is being organized by the Odisha Police in collaboration with other State government agencies, 15 Banks, and other partners. This massive social campaign’s main goal is to raise awareness of cybercrimes in society among all demographics and age groups and to teach people how to be safe online.
