Mohan Charan Majhi (Keonjhar) and Mukesh Mahaling (Loisingha), two BJP legislators who are accused of throwing ‘dal’ in the direction of the Speaker’s podium, were suspended by the Odisha Assembly on Thursday for the remainder of the monsoon session.
However, the two lawmakers denied throwing “dal” at Speaker Pramila Malik’s podium. ‘Dal’ was brought to the Speaker, according to Mahaling, and was not thrown. In response to the question of why “presenting” ‘dal’ to the Speaker, Mahaling stated that Mallik had resigned in 2011 as the minister of women and child development as a result of a Rs 700 crore scandal involving the purchase of pulses for the mid-day meal program.
