School of Sustainability, XIM University (New Campus), commenced day 1 of its 10th Annual Sustainability Summit, on the theme “Innovate, Collaborate, Elevate: Solution for a Sustainable World” with an online session where the Summit was declared open by Vice Chancellor, XIM University, Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J. This was followed by speaker sessions by Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, faculty at IIMA and IITB and founder of Honeybee Network, Miss Sarah Roberts, Chair of BYCS foundation, and lastly Mr. Erik Solheim, who served as the Minister of International Development to the Norwegian Government. The online session concluded with a dashboard presentation and a video report on Daya Nadi Ecosystem Sustainability as part of the adoption of Daya Nadi by the school.
In the evening session, the Dean of School of Sustainability, Prof. Dr. Sutapa Pati acknowledged the MoU partners and highlighted the importance of such collaborations and partnerships for a sustainable progress. This was followed by introductory addresses by few of the MoU partners and cultural events by the students of the school focusing on the theme of the summit. Through their art forms they illustrated the evolution of industrial innovation over the years.
Day 2 – 14th January, 2025
The second day of the summit started with the inauguration of the Clean Tech Eco-Innovation Startup Fair with a welcome note by Prof. Dr. Sutapa Pati, Dean, School of Sustainability and the ribbon cutting ceremony by Fr. S. Anthony Raj, S. J., Registrar, XIM University, joined by other dignitaries present on the stage. This was followed by introductory addresses by Dr B. K. Sahu from NRDC, Mr. Anupam Gayen from NSIC and Mr. Prashant Pradhan from SBI who shared their thoughts on the importance of collaborating and leveraging each other’s strengths to build resilient sustainable businesses and invited all the participating startups to use this opportunity to do the same.
The agenda for the forenoon included a Startup Interaction session and a session of Startup talks that happened simultaneously. Startups were arranged spaces for their stalls, where the students, faculty, and the guests could interact with them, and buy their products as well. They spoke about their keen interest in collaborating with the school as well as the other startups. Further, interviews of different startup partners speaking about their journeys and their ventures were conducted. There were a total of 21 startups that participated in the exhibition, ranging from different sectors, like technology, handicrafts, organic farming, and renewable energy –

Simultaneously, another session commenced featuring esteemed speakers from both public and academic spheres, including Dr. B. K. Sahu, Dr. Manish Kumar, Mr. Jyotiraj Patra, Mr. Christudas K. V., and Mr. Digvijay Singh Bisht. The speakers emphasized the critical importance of integrating social models, fostering resilience, and upholding the principles of integrity and inclusivity. Their discussions highlighted how these elements are essential for developing sustainable infrastructure capable of withstanding the challenges posed by climate change.
The afternoon session was the Corporate Event on the topic “Transcending Limits: Fostering Corporate Innovation in Action”. The first speaker was Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, PartnerAD at BCG who conducted an enlightening talk about financing sustainable innovations, timely interventions for climate risk mitigation and empowering the youth and small entrepreneurs. Following this Mr. Nirav Patel, Partner at Uniqus Consultech took the stage to illuminate the necessity of integrating innovation in the design of an organization, the financial challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead in the journey towards a sustainable future. Day – 2 ended with felicitating the speakers and the startup partners of the School of Sustainability.
Day 3 – 15th January, 2025
The third day of the summit commenced with the students and the faculty visiting the Daya Nadi banks which included a workshop on the Daya River Ecosystem, moderated by Prof. Tanmay Khuntia This was followed by expert sessions by Mr. Cherish Karuveli (KPMG, Dr. Maithili Mohanty (NIT Rourkela) and Dr. Punyaslok Bhadhury (IISER Kolkata)and professors of XIM School of Sustainability highlighting riverbank observations, rejuvenation. The event also included discussions, a pledge ceremony, research poster display by Ms. B Goutami and the release of the Dayanadi River Ecosystem Charter. The three-day sustainability summit hosted by SOS-XIM highlighted the importance of partnerships, innovation and resilient solutions to climate risks.
