On Tuesday, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhi took over as Principal Secretary of the Cooperation Department. Dr. Padhi talked with department authorities after joining.
During the conversation, he discussed his department’s priorities. He stated unequivocally that the officers’ discipline, honesty, and responsibility are his top priorities.
He also met with top personnel to address significant concerns concerning the Cooperation Department. Crop insurance, computerization of PACS, audit of PACS, promotion of inter-state commerce through e-NAM, the establishment of relevant cooperative infrastructures, and strengthening the Cooperation Department’s image are among his goals.
He has instructed the department personnel to wear hand-woven textiles every Friday and to refrain from using pan, bidi, tamakhu, cigarettes, or alcohol. RCS, Odisha, all Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, and other senior officers were present during the interaction.
Dr. Padhi also serves as the Principal Secretary for Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts.
Padhee has almost two decades of expertise in public administration and policymaking. District Magistrate and Collector; Director, Agriculture, and Food Production; Revenue Divisional Commissioner; Chief Administrator, Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri; Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, Odisha; and Joint Secretary, Department of Fertilizers, Government of India are among the positions he has held. During his time with the Odisha government, he was a key contributor to the creation of the Odisha State Agriculture Policy in 2008. He was also a member of the former Planning Commission’s Technical Support Group, which worked on the District Agricultural Plan handbook.
