Are China Military Drills intense as 2022 ?

Taiwan’s foreign minister made the remarks on Monday, as the People’s Liberation Army conducted its third day of drills, and said that Beijing’s military preparations in response to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen travelling through the US are comparable to those witnessed by Beijing last year. Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said in an interview with Bloomberg News on Monday that, “If you compare the two sets of military drills, I will say the one in August last year to be more intense,” alluding to Beijing’s entire response to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island at the time.

The People’s Liberation Army was conducting its third day of training when Taiwan’s foreign minister made the comments. He claimed that Beijing’s military preparations in reaction to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen travelling through the US are comparable to what Beijing saw last year. In an interview with Bloomberg News on Monday, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu made reference to Beijing’s overall response to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island at the time, saying that “if you compare the two sets of military drills, I will say the one in August last year to be more serious.”
