After his planned concert in Kolkata was postponed by a government agency, singer Arjit Singh is at the centre of a new dispute to which the BJP has injected a political hue. Arijit Singh performed his well-known song “Rang de tu mohe gerua” in front of chief minister Mamata Banerjee at the opening of the Kolkata International Film Festival, according to BJP’s Amit Malviya.
The song, which is one of Arijit’s most well-known ones, is from the Shah Rukh Khan movie Dilwale. In addition to his well-known Bengali songs, he also performed this song at the KIFF.People began questioning if he had simply chosen the music at random or if there was a deeper significance.According to sources, the concert was slated to take place early in 2019. Bollywood’s biggest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Rani Mukherjee, were spotted at the famed film festival, according to news source IANS.
The clearance for Arijit Singh’s event was denied, according to West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim, because a G-20 event is also scheduled at the same location. “The convention centre, which is just across from the Eco Park (the location of Arijit Singh’s concert), will host the celebration commemorating India’s G-20 chairmanship. There will probably be several foreign dignitaries present at that event, “According to Firhad Hakim, as reported by the news agency ANI.
