Arun Bothra who is an IPS officer and Chairman cum Managing Director of Odisha State Road Transport Undertaking (OSRTC) and Managing Director of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) honoured by Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) for his achievement in the transport success in 2020.
Bothra notwithstanding the Covid challenges managed to achieve transport success in 2020 and also generated the groundwork successfully and sustainable changeability initiatives in 2021. The TUMI in its publication mentioned that the 21 Hero 2021 viewed within the despondency and handled this crisis as a way to not only keep people safe while moving through their cities but also to invest time and resources into reconstructing urban mobility and battling climate change.
The TUMI further stated that the individual who is honoured in the publication are selected of many who are actively participating to make mobility in the future-oriented, safe, comprehensive and sustainable world. TUMI also invited all the transport heroes who are dedicated to transforming mobility to enhance life for all the citizens.
TUMI also gave a brief profile on Bothra stating that under his leadership the public transport sector in Odisha has seen strong changes through the fulfilment of commuter-friendly measures like digital transactions, limitations within buses to sitting-only passengers and the enforcement of a stringent Covid-19 prevention strategy.
Regarding the situation of public transport during Coronavirus pandemic, TUMI further stated that Mr Bothra ensured that on buses everyone is enforced to wear a mask, regularly disinfecting and maintaining social distancing. He even bought together over 1200 bus drivers and conductors across the state for a virtual training program which helped them to impart knowledge and skills on safe and fuel-efficient driving practices, customer care, gender sensitivity and good bus maintenance practices.”
